Manual toothbrushes at apko: dozens of models from Elgydium, Curaprox, Tello, Curasept and Swiss Smile, selected by pharmacists and dentists. A good manual toothbrush doesn’t need batteries to clean your teeth thoroughly – what matters is soft, dense bristles, the size of the head and a comfortable handle.
Which bristle firmness to choose?
• Extra soft – Curaprox CS 5460 and CS 12460, Tello 6240 Ultra Soft, Elgydium Clinic 7/100. For sensitive gums, exposed tooth necks and healing after dental procedures.
• Soft – a safe everyday choice for most adults.
• Medium – when your gums are healthy and you prefer a more noticeable brushing feel.
What do the numbers in the toothbrush name mean?
In Curaprox toothbrushes the number is the number of filaments: CS 5460 has 5,460 of them, CS 12460 – 12,460. The more filaments, the finer and gentler they are on the gums. In Elgydium Clinic the number gives the filament diameter in hundredths of a millimetre: 7/100 is 0.07 mm (ultra soft), 15/100 – 0.15 mm, 20/100 – 0.20 mm. A lower number means softer bristles.
When is a single-tuft toothbrush useful?
With implants, bridges, braces and crowded teeth. The small, round head of the Curaprox CS 1006, CS 1009 or Curasept Mono Tuft reaches where a regular toothbrush won’t fit – right at the gum line and around brackets. You will find them under implant toothbrushes.
Which toothbrush for a child?
One that matches the child’s age. In toothbrushes for kids you will find Elgydium Baby with a suction cup (0–2 years), Elgydium Kids (2–6 years), Elgydium Junior and Tello Junior (from 6–7 to 12 years) and Elgydium Xtrem for teenagers.
How to brush with a manual toothbrush?
Hold the bristles at about 45° to the gum line and use short strokes without pressing hard – twice a day for two minutes. Replace your toothbrush every 3–4 months. Hard to decide? The apko quiz will narrow it down in a minute.
